So for anyone following along at home, I kinda chickened out on this one. There is a shop nearby I wanted to try out for this truck to see if it was a shop I could rely on to do some of the heavier work on it when I don't have time. I don't mind working on vehicles but my issue many times with my job and family obligations is finding time to do so. I wanted to find a nearby shop to turn to if I didn't have time to do the work myself on this beast. Due to some things going on with my elderly father, I could see I wouldn't get to looking into this anytime soon. So, I turned this over to the shop as a test of sorts to see if they would be able to help me out down the road.
In about 3 hours, the tech found a rotted vacuum hose running from the PCV to the vapor canister. Tech said it was melted through and had a large hole worn through it due to it being near the exhaust. He replaced that hose. So far, no CEL but only time will tell if that is the fix for this issue. I still have the o2 sensor I purchased. I took another look at getting the old one out and it may present more of a challenge than I originally thought. Truck seems to run a bit smoother now but again I am skeptical this is truly the fix. Will see. Any input as to if this sounds like something that could cause code 41 to appear is welcomed. Again, thanks for all the replies on this one.
Edit: I noticed the tech saw code 41 as 'EGR Not Switching'. I have never seen that as a code 41 option. Does this seem correct to anyone or do they have this incorrect?
