Traction Lock - Sounds Cheap
I'm going to add a limited slip (currently open) and change from 2.94 to 3.31 gears on my 95 F150 w/ 300 and 5 spd. I'm looking to improve towing and improve traction in the snow while I'm at it.https://www.ebay.com/itm/29417128730...3ABFBMuOTIrIdi
First, I was wrong, I have 2.73's presently. (Old fartitus!)
It has a 300 six cylinder. Peak torque of 260 (I may have a little bit more; it's lightly modded.) at 2000 rpm. You'll see below, that matches my towing rpm @ 65 mph, with the 3.31's.
The M50D trans has a 3.90 first gear and a .80 5th.
And I should mention that I don't tow a lot.
With the 2.73's, I have an overall 1st gear of 10.65, and in 5th, it's 2.18. At 75 mph, in 5th, with a 28" tall tire, it revs at 1960 rpm.
With the 3.31's, I'll have an overall 1st gear of 12.91, and in 5th, it'll be 2.65. At 75 mph in 5th, with a 28" tall tire, it'll rev at 2385 rpm.
That'll be 425 higher at 75 mph, than with the 2.73's. That'll only be when not towing, as I'm not towing at 75 mph! At 65 mph, with the 3.31's, it'll rev at 2070. (1700 with the 2.73's.)
With that steep 3.90 1st gear ratio, if I put too much gear in it, 1st will be about worthless, as I see it.
I used the Wallace Calculator.
Anyway, I have the Traction Lock, and I just ordered the 3.31's. Also, I ordered the install kit from Ratech.
