I just bought a 2019 F250 XL CC with 6.2L. I am trying to figure out which axle and gears it has. The dealer I bought it from had the window sticker saying the gears were 3.73. Everything I see on the truck makes me believe it has 4.30. Also trying to tell us it has electronic locker, again dealer said limited slip. The sticker on the door jamb has 4M and on the Axle the lable reads "TC05A 4E30 10.50". The truck has 44000 miles so I also want to change the fluid. Do you guys use 75W85 or 75w90 and what brand do you recommend. I live in Florida, but plan on towing a camper throughout the USA during summer months. Also tow a boat in Florida.
Thanks, I really appreciate it. Wouldn't think a dealer who sells Ford in the franchise would be so wrong, but oh well, better for me, those are the gears I wanted. Now I just have to figure out the oil I want to use.
Since you wanna do the fluid, you'll be able to figure out what's in there once you pull the cover. You never know what the PO did, they could've swapped the gears and locker out, or stuck a whole different axle under it.
Does it have the axle lock symbol on/near the 4X4 control on the dash? It looks like 4 wheels with an "X" through the center of the rear differential. If it's an E-locker, that should be part of the 4WD controls. Like this
99% of the time just buy whatever oil is the rated viscosity and specs for what it's going into. There's been plenty of real world tests done where the high dollar stuff isn't any better than store brand oils.
75W85 is fairly expensive per quart given how much of an odd ball it is. I have 75W140 valvoline in the sterling 10.5 under my truck. I have run amsoil and redline in the past without issue as well.

An easy and fun way to tell with the 6.2 and 6-speed... If the truck will exceed 60 mph in 2nd gear, you have the 3.73... If you need 3rd gear to get to 60 mph, you have the 4.30
