I let my 2008 F350 4X4 King Ranch dually sit for a couple of weeks and when I went to start it up, it started just fine, like always, but the charge indicator light, the battery icon, was on. I figured since I am really close to the beach, the salt air might have caused some corrosion between the carbon brushes and the slip rings in the alternator, so I drove it for a few miles, thinking that would clean it off. Pretty quickly, I heard a chime then the gauges went dead. Then very soon they came back on with the radio. Then off again. When the gauges go off there is a short chime and the windows won't work. The truck runs fine. The exterior signals work, but the indicators on the dash do not. Some times the radio comes on by itself. No rhyme or reason. The alternator is charging at 14.53volts. Searching google, all these symptoms occur on earlier models that have a battery saver relay soldered into the gauge cluster, but according to the shop that installed the new motor 20,000 miles ago, the 2008-2010 models don't have that relay in the cluster. There is a relay in the passenger foot well fuse box "delayed accessory" relay. Replaced but no change. Removed and disassembled gauge cluster but no obvious moisture damage or loose wires, moved loom and connector to board, hooked up bare board to harness with key on, LED for battery indicator stayed lit with engine running. Flexed board, no change. For fuse 27 in same fuse box it lists "Accessory shutoff control module (if equipped)". Fuse is good. Power to both sides. Anyone know where the "Accessory shutoff control module" is located? Thanks
