20166 f250 super duty xlt with factory tow package
I may have caused this issue, but we will see ow it plays ou
I installed a Fuel Saver from the internet to try and get 1 mile per gallon extra from my gas unit- we travel about 8000 miles per year with our 5th wheel
after a few days, I noticed that the light in the fuel saver was flashing nonstop when the key was off
my batter started to slowly drain after about 3 days
had battery tested and alternator at Orielys - they say both are good, 14 volts when running - new battery
Could the Fuel Saver module have activated something in the ignition system that would now stay active and be draining the battery
removed the Fuel saver off obd port but issue continues. Fuel Saver tech support useless
can the system be reset to factory spec by repair shop
Have no idea what gimmick device you bought off the internet but remove it and see if normal operation is restored. Throw the scam device away or return it for a refund.
If not, take the vehicle somewhere where they know how to PROPERLY do a battery drain test on that era of the Fords to see where the current draw is at.

I agree but I doubt anyone can troubleshoot a problem that’s 20,000 years ahead of our time…

Ok dumb joke but I couldn’t help it.
Chances are good the fuel saver device is the reason for the draw. Any professional tech would immediately be suspicious of aftermarket devices and it would be the first thing to disconnect during a draw test.
As projectSHO said - remove it and see if the problem persists.
As he stated in his post, he removed the fuel saver and the current draw is still happening.
My bet would be that you have a module that's not going to sleep or a stuck relay that's causing the power drain. If you don't have experience in chasing down electrical, your best bet is to get it into a trusted shop.
Did you try unhooking the battery for about 15mins to 30 mins and then hook i back up? It might clear your problem, but it might not.

My mistake - I didn’t read the OP’s post thoroughly enough.
I’m inclined to agree that it could be a stuck relay or a module staying awake, however I’d also verify any other accessories (phone chargers, aftermarket GPS, brake controllers, etc) are disconnected first and that the battery terminals are clean and tight.
Try disconnecting the battery and then touch the positive and negative battery cables together for 60
seconds. That should drain down any modules relays or system management computers. connect it all back up.
truthfully if the manufacturers could get a additional mpg out of a truck they would. To me any of those piggyback modules or air flow “enhancers” that supposedly give you better mpg are a a suckers bet.
it’s like those magnetic tubes yiu clamp on the fuel
lime and supposedly it rearranged the fuel molecules…lol wtf. If that was true the god damn fuel
line would be be a electromagnetic fuel line.
hopefully that fuel module didn’t short out the ECM or your security module in some way. I wood be ver wary of ANY module connected to my OBD port. I dot care what their internet warranty says. Like a famous fat guy said hey I can crap in a box and put a warranty sticker on it for you.
removed terminals- touched together for 2 min- reconnected- still have drain- also checked starter and alternator for drains and shorts- no issues there. next step i pulled about 6 relays and 20 fuses one at a time and no change. next step is a friend with extensive mechanical knowledge is going to help me remove additional relays and fuses to try and isolate further. t
thanks for ideas so far
leave the windows down hood up and wire a multimeter for each battery post. One for positive one for negative.
leave the truck sitting for 45-60 minutes. By then all the systems in the truck should of powered down. If there is a underhood light or security switch disable it.
see what meter is drawing what amperage.
when a vehicle is sitting completely shut down the draw should be measured in milliamp. Basically enough to keep memory.
what are the readings on the truck for the battery draw.
well finally took it to ford- they had it for 3 days ,coiundt find anything- recommended replacing starter and alternator- not going to happen , my private mechanic was finally available, took him less than a 1/2 hr to verify that the starter relay was sticking causing the drain- replaced the relay and have had no issues since
