electric window

excursion 02 7.3psd 56000 miles
power to windows andradio goes off and after about five minutes returns.i cleaned the contacts on switches but made no difference.no pattern about which window i am working.has been happening for a few weeks.also my back up sensors are on the blink and just stopped working completely.any connection?any help would be appreciated.

If the radio and all the windows stop working together, I would suspect something is wrong with the battery saver relay, or the accessory relay. I think they are located in the fuse box. Pull them out and see if you have any corrosion problems. Look at the fuse box and the floorboard, and see if there is any evidence of water. There is also a module called the GEM, that controls these relays. It can have water damage too.

Some Fords have had windshield leak problems, and the water runs right down in the GEM module and the fuse box.

i checked the fuse box and no corrosion.where is the gem located and is it labeled?thanks again. i am going to take notice if it is raining or has rained when this happens.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I looked up the diagrams, and you do have the battery saver relay and the accessory delay relay. The accessory delay relay is located in the fuse box under the dash. It is driven by the battery saver relay which in your model, is located in the instrument cluster and is non-servicable. The instrument cluster has a microprocessor that controls the battery saver relay and communicates with the ither modules in a network that the dealer can talk to with a scanner. So you do not have the GEM, it's all in the cluster.

any thoughts on the reverse sensors?they try to work so i know they are getting power.
