Headers

Does anyone know of a shorty headers that will fit in a 1978 F150 with a 302 swapped in front of a 4 speed? I've tried no name ebay and bbk fix body shorties and they both hit the z bar. Thought maybe there was one that dumps shorter and right above. Any help would be appreciated, right now it looks like I'm stuck with manifolds lol.

I tried multiple Sanderson headers as well as a few others and came up with nothing. That doesn't mean there isn't one but I wasn't able to find anything. I ended up with manifolds, as well.

Headers

A hydraulic clutch linkage conversion will be the only way you will be able to use headers.

Can you recommend a good kit?

Clutch linkage

Later model F series Fords have hydraulic throw out bearings. If you scout some salvage yards you should be able to find the set up. Also just google it and there are several aftermarket companies that will have a conversion kit.

Hi guys,'

I went with Sanderson shorty headers on my 77 F-100 three on the tree. No problems at all with the Z bar. Part number is FF3-GTS-P. I believe these are listed for 64-73 Mustangs, but fit the F-series fine. With that said, these headers will fit the standard small block heads or the Explorer GTP heads. (Which is how I ended up using these.) The GTP heads have the spark plugs not quite as slanted but enough different that standard manifolds and headers will not quite work. But no problem with the FF3-GTS-P, it will fit either. I have always the staff at Sanderson helpful, so you can always verify with them. I will try to add a picture. Always ends up sideways. You barely see the header because it tucks in close.

Sorry about the duplicated replies. Anyway, I would check with Sanderson Headers just to confirm that the subject headers will work with standard heads. It has been a few years since I was doing this, and at the time my concern was all about fitting up to my GT-40P heads.

So I looked those up at summit and they are pretty spendy! I don't have a problem doing that if I know they will fit. Mating up to p heads would also be an added bonus. I guess I'm calling Sanderson! Now the next challenge is sweet talking the wife after all I already spent on the Edelbrock carb and intake and all the other "necessary" parts lol.
