Missing=Spark Plugs and Coils?
I have a 2017 F-250 4x4 with the 6.2 and about 64,000 miles. Recently I’ve had a slight miss on cold starts, usually when damp out. CEL turned on and I got codes for misses on a few cylinders as well as the random miss code. Truck ran great after running for a few minutes.
Since it only has 64K I didn’t think it was spark plugs already. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as Spark Plugs and Coil packs and quoted $2200. For that much I am doing it myself. I’ve done plugs/coils before on other vehicles and didn’t have too much of a problem with it.
My question is the dealer claimed there was a TSB for some revised coil packs which fix this issue. I looked through the NHTSA database and couldn’t find anything for it aside from TSB 18-2188 which involves a no start due to pcm programming leading to fouled plugs. Are you guys aware of a TSB having to do with revised coil packs replacing old one? Also have your 6.2 coil packs been problematic? If not I will probably just replace the plugs first and save $700 on new coil packs
thx!
You can also have rough running during fuel blend switch in the seasons until the computer adjusts. Pull your coils and you will likely find corrosion
