what causes a coil to fail?

I recently had my spark plugs replaced by the dealership. Now I have a bad coil that they want me to pay for. Is it possible they messed up when replacing the plugs?

Have you washed your engine lately? Moisture is the #1 killer of COPs. How many miles? I had one die after washing the truck with 45,000 on it.

perhaps they forgot to put di-electric on the new cops, moisture, or some sort of fluid got in and they arced causing them to fail. then again how many miles are on the truck?

Worn spark plugs increases the load and can cause them to fail, probably the #2 reason they fail is worn plugs.
