2006 Header Panel on 2002 Excursion

2006 Header Panel on 2002 Excursion
Hello all,
I have a 2002 7.3 excursion on which I did a 2006 headlight and grill facelift. I did the usual cutting out of the header panel behind the headlights to fit the new ones. However, after years of bumpy roads and getting backed into, the header panel is cracked everywhere and barely holds the headlights in. So my question is, if I replace it with a 2006 header panel, will it directly fit onto my 2002? I was thinking about this to try and avoid cutting out the headlight holes again and keeping it stronger. They seem extremely similar but I figured I'd ask here first before ordering.
Edit: also I should mention, I am using a 2002 conversion grill. So it is still the regular height of the 2002 grill that fits the original bumper.
