I just need to confirm from someone who has actually done this. I just want to convert my 02 to 05 headlights (going Harley). I want the factory look and install. So from what I have read (believe me when I say I have gone thru all 253 pages of threads), people have done this in a couple of different ways. I believe that I just need the new pigtails, new header/reinforcement panel and of course the headlights. As I mentioned, I want the factory look, so I do not want to cut the panel. Does the panel just screw into the existing mounts without ANY modification? I am not converting the bumper and grille at this time. TIA
This board is the best thing to happen to my X!!!!

I don't know if you need to replace the grill. I have both panels and will find out this week for sure. BTW the Excursion and SuperDuty panels are the same but not their price...The Superduty lists for $129 and the Excursion for $248. It's not uncommon for parts to be priced to the vehicle rather than the part itself :-)
Well, it's official. The 2005 panel does NOT fit. It's about 2 inches taller. This means that if you want to use the 2005 panel, it requires the 2005 grill and likely the bumper. You probably can get away with a little bumper/grill trimming at the bottom. If you want to use the old panel and 2005 head lights, it requiers minimal cutting of the old mounts.
Thank you for verifying! It looks like I will be cutting the panel. I will purchase the panel, grille and bumper at a later date as I want to get the headlights in asap. Please feel free to update this post as you progress in your project.
