MLPS Help

KOEO 654 Transmission not in park. MLPS?

Still getting code KOEO Hard code 654. Twice after a test drive the shift lever locks in Park and won't move. Turning key back on it will release from park and shift through the range with engine off. I suspect the MLPS as the E4OD doesn't shift at the times it should IMO. Being it is a 1995 truck I think I would have the updated wired MLPS but I don't know how to tell. Rockauto has the MLPS but they list one without the harness and one with the harness. Which one does this 1995 need and is the locking in Park issue the MLPS? Thanks for any help.

Locking in park sound like the interlock that is released when you step on the brake pedal.

1994 and up trucks have the shifter interlock I believe.

A 1995 model year truck has the updated MLPS.

You can look at it. Connector at 12:00 old, 3:00 new.

I guess the new comes with the harness.

You can check the adjustment/alignment on the MLPS first. Randy has a pic.

That's what I thought if might be. It did it once before I put in a new brake booster and then today after booster install. Pretty sure It is installed correctly unless it is defective.

Older style MLPS, but you can see the alignment mark.

Yes I have pulled the MLPS and cleaned it and dielectric greased the connection which was clean. I checked alignment marks again today and got the code again AFTER I had all clear 111. Harness is at 12:00 and truck has a born date in late 94 and delivered early 95

mine is on the top at 12:00 so I assume it is the new style? Originally Posted by Scndsin

My 1991 MLPS harness is on top at 12:00 also as is my 1995. In the Rockauto site the MLPS sold without the harness is on the side at 3:00. The one shown on the site sold with the harness is on top like mine. Little confused now.

Ford has a program called "use to exhaustion".

Why new parts show up early & frequently run late into new model year.

New is to the side. The top plug had a tendency to get dirt/liquids infiltrated.

Unless I'm wrong, then somebody point it out.

The AODEs that I've looked at look like the above, all side plug.

The MLPS connection on my 91 is on top as I mentioned and it is tan color. The one on the 95 is on top also and is black if any of that matters. These are both E4OD. STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS NS126T T-Series Info

Well then you can't go wrong with the 12, the other looks like 9:00, so I was wrong.

OK Thank you. Do the pins on the existing harness need to be moved or what is needed to install the new harness.

I've never installed the updated unit so could not say. I vaguely & perhaps incorrectly thought it came with the stub harness.

I was hoping someone who had would have responded by now.

The Ford version I used some years ago was set up so you changed the vehicle harness connector by depinning it and installing the original pins in the new connector.

It wasn't too bad. A lift would make it much more pleasant.
