So you will see the C8 heads as the last before the D2. That's because most work on the FE got either stopped or was for race engines (tunnel port heads for example) after 1968. 1968 was the intro for the 429/460, and the focus was there (and elsewhere) after '68. The D2 change was mostly for the induction hardened seats, as those heads are said to be about the same as C8AE-H heads.
Thanks for the help. I'm trying to figure out if headers will work out the same i.e. are the exh. ports at the same location relative to the ports themselves. That info will enable further questions/research.
I think that most all of the FE wedge heads are the same on the exhaust side with the exception of the CJ with the sideways bolts and the 390 GT heads with the different(lower) bolt pattern.
Belate, before the D2TE heads, many of the FEs were coming with C8AE-H heads. these heads have the smaller ports and lowered exhausts. The FE series has 4 different exhaust patterns. The most common are the two vertical bolts with either a normal or 5/16ths lowered exhaust port. The are close enough you can make it work fine. Sometimes you have to slot the bolt holes on your headers to move the pipes up or down to match the ports. Do-able. DinosaurFan
