its a ford 9" carrier, can you get a pic of the bolts on the other side holding the ring gear? I think that's an open diff... if the bolts are not counter sunk, i'm more confident it's an open diff, if they are are counter sunk, it could be a trac loc?
pretty sure that's a trac lok... trac lok is a specific limited slip diff they are a common OEM LSD and should be the option on a lot of f100/150's of the time

okay. So I pretty much have a LSD? And what does that all mean? Sorry, I’m kinda new to differential stuff.
its one of the most basic types of LSD's that functions with clutches... the type you have to add friction modifier to the gear oil in the diff.
I mentioned spicer (dana) the manufacturer, but i edited that out... i know spicer makes them, but as i think about it, i've seen other manufacturers use the same name for their clutch style LSD's. not sure if dana made the ones ford put in their trucks or not.
this is 1 step better than an open diff and fills the need for the vast majority of people who want/need a LSD. if you were off-roading heavily or drag racing, it would likely be barely adequate with much better options available.

thanks for the help. So when I go to add gear oil, I need to buy some friction modifier too?
