I have a nov 1969 which makes it a 70 f100 it has the pin type ignition switch like the 2nd picture I’m just wondering how can I wire the switch up to a new generic switch with studs and colors of the wire and what they go to on the switch would help
So what I'm wondering on this is the switch with the stud in the middle would be a 67 switch correct?
This is what American auto wire sends in their kit they sell for the 67-72 trucks. I thought these had issues as well. They say they never had an issue with them causing fires . I thought that's why they changed to the round pin switch then on to the flat spade one?
I'm wondering about changing out the connector to the flat spade type Instead of what they send.
The 1967 switch is the one with the large stud in the middle. Ford went to C8AZ-11572-A as NumberDummy stated above, the 1968/69 was the style that had the fire issue, so they changed to the 1971 style D1AZ-11572--C.

so that 67 style switch didnt have any issues then?
I just don't want a potential fire issue as that's what I'm already dealing with rebuilding from an electrical fire.
I have not read anything about issues with the 1967 or the 1971/72 ignition switches, I have only read about the 1968-1970 switches having a issue with electrical fire.
Here is a picture of the differences in the switches, the 1967 is on the left, 1968-70 is in the middle, and the 1971/72 is on the right.
Yep switch in the kit looks like the 67 one , the truck has the 71-72 switch in it. Here's what is included in the kit. Hopefully it's not an issue getting this switch if I ever need a replacement. I was wondering about using the old plug shell to retain the 71-72 switch if that one is more available in the long run.
