What is the difference between these two fuel pump eccentrics? One is from my engine before the machine shop redid the short block and the other picture is after they redid it. Will I still be able to use a mechanical fuel pump with that new one? Thank you - Thomas
No, you need the complete circular one in the upper picture for a mechanical fuel pump. You will notice too the upper one is two piece. The outer piece rubs on the inner piece, not on the fuel pump arm.
Never seen it before. The one fuel injected 302 I converted to carb had the round center part of the fuel eccentric and they were using it like a large washer for the cam sprocket. It did not have the outer piece with it.
It hasn't been used before. The engine builders gave it back to me like that. (they gave me the old chain, gears and eccentric back in a box) I was thinking it was abbreviated like that to make up for the balance of the full circle, mechanical one.
I think they assumed I was going to use an electric fuel pump instead of the mechanical one.
