Choke?

Do I need to keep the choke? Or can I eliminate it. My 69 mustang didn’t have a choke. Has anyone else eliminated the choke? Would a Holley Sniper EFI (or similar system)be necessary?

My 360 won't hardly start cold without the choke. You nearly have to flood it if the choke isn't working. Doesn't use or need the choke when warmed up.

If you live in a place that seldom sees cool weather or only use the truck on nice days, you can probably get away without a choke.
The real question here though is, why do you want to get rid of it?

1) I live in SoCal, so yeah the weather is permitting.
2) one less thing to worry about. I’m guessing if I installed a EFI system like a Holley Sniper EFI, that would negate the need for a choke.

Basically, looking to improve the drivability of the vehicle. EFI would also improve the MPG.

I was wondering the same thing, when i bought mine there was no choke at all, it has a Holley 2300 carb (4412-S), I press on the gas twice then turn the key and it fires right up. Goes into fast idle for 30 sec to a minute then slows down all on its own without touching the gas at all. Maybe because I am in AZ its not an issue.

A carb with too rich of jets and/or idle mixture adjustment screws adjusted rich can mimic a choke. And cause bad gas mileage.
