No start due to fuel delivery issues.i have a 1990 f150 that i want to test run . It sat for a long time .it runs if i spray directly into intake. I thought i could back feed fuel through test port via pressure tank contraption that i made but im not getting injectors to fire. I have Power to red at injectors. Fuel pump runs but i get no fuel even to the filter. Is the reason i tried to get fuel into rail by other means.only code is 51 at the moment . What else could be stoping the injector pulse?
I picked up an led test light that shows hot vs ground. And found that the injectors are pulsing. Small wire at relay shows red for power and then changes to green while cranking. I left the rail pressurized all day yesterday and when i got home it started and ran for about 30 seconds and died. So im leaning toward rail and injectors are siply clogged with varnish.i filled up my pressure tank with seafoam and repressurized. Ill try it again after it soaks for a day. And ill check for a pulse signal at the other individual injectors.
That is correct. I may pull the bed off and take a look .truck is going for parts or scrap anyway. Just wanted to to run it to if engine and transmission are worthy of putting in my 66
Your apparatus might work, to run the truck, with some mods?
It is possible to run a truck on injector cleaner equipment
We used to run them long enough to drive them in the shop with the air over hydraulic ones
I have 2 and use the OTC one the most
Your setup should work if you can get it to hold enough fuel and not melt?
I think the hardest part is trouble shooting the electric side. After reading some other posts figuring out why what i thought was a ground wire was showing power.(confusing).i think i get it now. Ill unplug them and est for signal . Bought a noid light set . Regular test light just wouldnt flash for some reason .the led and noid lights do.
An incandescent node light is better than an LED because it has a similar load to an injector. It doesnt take much current to illuminate a LED, and if you have a bad connection, the LED will still work but the wires wont flow enough current to operate an injector.
Update i couldnt get it to run off the contraption but i ripped the box off and put fuel pump into a pail of gas gas and it fired right up and ran like a champ.so it was either pulling bad gas from tank even though i was forcing fresh into test port or there is somthing something else( regulator)? That needed to see pressure to start.
The ECU doesn't know if the fuel rail is pressurized. As long as the ECU sees the distributor rotating it should fire the ignition and injectors.
Congrats on getting her running.
