So, I currently have 14" TT tires, range C that max at 50 psi, TT says run them at 50 psi. I'm changing them out, seems logical to go to a range D. Question: Range D says 65 psi. Should I still run them at 50 or bump them up? TT loaded is probably 6k, so lets guess 5200 or rears, 2600 per side, 1300 per tire, well within C or D range. What would you run the new tires at?
I'd get inflation tables form the manufacturer of the tire. Then, weigh your TT and divide by 4...then adjust psi according to the weight capacity based off the table. I do a 5psi buffer on mine but I run 10ply E rated @ 65psi.
Everything I've read stated to air them up to the max psi. Like Jokester said above I do 5 under psi to be on the safe side. Mine are range C but from the few articles I read it doesn't matter what range your tires are that's what they recommend.
Check to make sure that your wheels are rated for 65 PSI, then air those tires up to 65. Most TT tires age out loooong before you wear the tread out and a fully inflated tire will run cooler as it will have less flex in it which builds heat, heat is the enemy of tire longevity. A higher inflation pressure (within spec) will also have lower rolling resistance.
You guys that say "Run the tire at max pressure" - do you also do the same for your truck?

No I don’t, higher than needed pressure on the tow vehicle will give a rougher ride than passengers would like, the TT gets bounced around pretty good on the road with either “proper inflatiron table pressure” or higher pressure. No one rides back there to so no complaints. And as I said above trailer tires typically age out long before they wear out and a higher inflation pressure (up to tire design spec) will run cooler and have lower rolling resistance. Of course there are limits most all things, I have way overkill G rated ST tires on my 12/13K lb TT that have a max pressure of 110 PSI but I run them at 100 PSI as that’s plenty enough to keep them cool at speed without being too harsh of a ride for the TT. When I’ve run load range C, D and E I’ve always run them at max sidewall listed pressure.
