Hello, I have a 2006 F-350 CC. with the stock 18” Continental tires (80 lbs max) (LT275/70R x 18E) I only have 15K on them and their close to ½ worn, I pull a 7,000 lb camper 10% of the time so I’m thinking I don’t need max pressure all the time.<O</O
<O
What kind of pressure should I be running when not pulling? and what kind of mileage should I be expecting our of these tires?
Lots of opinions on this question. If you do a search...you will see what I mean.
I run 50 psi up front unloaded. The rear gets 55 psi unloaded. This will vary depending on the size of tire...and type/brand of tire too. I run Pirelli tires...LT265/75R16...stock size.
TIP:
Since all our SD's are a little different in regards to weight and options/accessories on the truck. With a white color chaulk, draw two lines on each tire. Drive it for at least a mile at 50mph or more. Now look at the wear of the chaulk. If the center is all worn, but not the edges, then lower your pressure until you get an even pattern with all the lines.
That is how I got my tire's psi.
Of course...I am talking about unloaded only. With a load...that is a whole different ballgame.
Good luck,
biz

I have an 250 v-10 and pull a 27' tt. I run 55 psi in the front and 80 psi in the back when towing. when not towing i run 50psi in front and back. on the drivers side side panel on the door you can get the proper psi for the weight your running. It takes a little math but it will give you the psi you need.
I run 65 psi unloaded on my 18" Conti's. I've got 55,000 miles on them and they still look good. And I'm running a PSD so I've got a little more weight up front. 65 psi is the recommended pressure (per my door sticker).
I pull a 6000 lb trailer once in a while (5% of the time), but I'm mostly highway miles unloaded.
may want the dealer to check those tires out,, hope ya have a good dealer,,
I have an 05 F350 CC SRW KR 6.0,, first set of conties had hard spots and were wearing bad,, dealer replaced all four at about 12K miles,, second set started cracking about 1/2 inch from the rim all the way around,, just replaced with 20K on the clock,, had to accept conties again as that is all Ford dealer offered,,
run 65 psi front and 60 in rear when not pulling,, when pulling run 73 psi in all four,,
ran conties for many years on my Benz and never a problem,,
third set of tires and also on my third turbo,, no wonder Ford stock is at a record low,, sure tough to make a nickle with this typw of on-going repair,,
