Just a RWD 3.0l 1989 shorty - front brakes are the type with the hub in the rotor...
I wanted to get another set of the end rings that hold the bearings in the hub - I have new timkin bearings, and everything, just wanted to replace those retaining rings since I think they are OEM and the original ones that I kept using for 30+ years...
The idea is that I wanna have the new set of rotors all set to go, packed, and ready so I can just swap them out when I have everything apart...
If anyone knows the specific rings that came on these, I just want to be sure I get the correct replacements - thanks
Do you mean the outer bearing races? Those usually come with new bearings, or they come with new rotors. On the inside bearing, there is a seal that's pressed onto the hub. Those may come with new bearings, or you might have to get them separately. They don't hold the bearings in the hub; they just seal the inner hub against the spindle.
Yes, the inside of the hub that meets the spindle - there is a retaining ring there that is how you gain access to the bearing for repacking or replacement - it has a lip that seats to the edge of the hub, and I usually just pop it off with a screwdriver when I need access and then tap it back on when done...
I just wanted to see where I could order those exact ones so I can have everything ready to go in one step.
I've never seen anything on the "spindle" side of the rotor but a grease seal. It's driven-in the hub to install and pried out and disposed of when servicing the rotor. Reusing a grease seal is asking for trouble. I had an outer bearing go bad last summer. It ruined the washer and nut. I found replacement parts (nut and washer) at O'Reilly. I had to cut the old nut off with my Dremel and chase the threads with a die before screwing the new nut on after replacing the hub and bearings.
Is this the part you're after? It's a grease seal.
