I am looking for a 3 inch lift for my 95 4dr 4x4 4.0 ltr 6 cyl. What do you suggest? And what size tires could you fit under there. I would like 35's but doubt that would be possible. And what make tires do u suggest?
Ok, first off for a 3 inch lift you will have to go with a body lift. There are no suspension lifts made in 3" for 95-01 explorers. In fact there is only 2 lifts made, both are 4" and one is from Trailmaster(POS) and the other from Superlift(recommended).
Also you will definately need WAY more lift to run 35's. You could possibly run 33's with the 3" bodylift, but that would require some pretty hefty fender trimming.
For type of tires... How often do you offroad? If it is not too often then I would go with the BFG allterain KO's or the Revo dueler at's. If you go offroad quite a bit, I would recommend BFG mud terrains or something similar. The Kumho venture mtr's are almost the exact same and are WAY cheaper. Good Luck
im in the same spot as you with trying to find a good lift kit. i just got some 31in summit mountain climbers nice offroad tires for free but i need the lift to complete the package
Ok, there are several lift options... This is for 95-01 explorers. You can do a TT(tortion twist) for up to 2" if you are 4wd. This is for the front. For the rear you can get warrior shackles part# WAR-153. Theese will give you about 1 1/2" of lift in rear. OR if you have a 4door you can do AAL(add a leafs) for 2". The sports have a monoleaf so you would need to swap in 4 door leafpack before you did an AAL. The Performance Accessories body lift that you need is part# PA#853, this is the 3" bodylift. It is made for the ford ranger but this WILL work. You will need to fab up some bumper prackets though, because the ones in the kit will not work. There is also a 2" bodylift, but I dont know the part # for it... it is the one for the 91-94 explorer, this WILL work on the model years I listed above, because they are all basically the same. And liek I mentioned before you could always get the superlift kit... But thats a bit spendy.
mines a 96 X XLT 4 door with control trac 4x4....i have decided to go with the superlift lift that adds 3-4"'s.i found a dealer right up my street so thatlll be easier
