2008-2016 Tailgate question

Hey everyone,

wanted to pick all your brains for some info and opinions. So I recently acquired a mint, and I mean like new Superduty tailgate for my truck, in Oxford white for a decent price. 2008-2016

Thing is, is that it has a camera (on the emblem, no steps). I don't really care for it. So I was considering a few options.

I was wondering, does the emblem on the base tailgate fit on it? Are they the same size? I'd like to delete it, if possible, and remove the harness.

If not, does anyone have a basic tailgate that they would like to trade for mine? I'm in Texas. Or is there a bezel delete kit that fits? I can send pics upon request. I cannot stress on how clean it is. Main reason why I got it.

I could always keep it and get a double din radio and adapt the rearview camera for it, but like I said, I just don't really care for it. Or would it really help with ease of living?

What would you all do?

No reason not to have a back-up camera these days. Do I need one? No. Do I love having it everytime I hook up a trailer by myself? Absolutely.

Yes the base emblem fits in the same place. I ran into the same thing when I replaced the tailgate on my 2010 f250 with one from a 2016 model.

My aftermarket backup camera is mounted on the bumper (above the license plate) and I had no means (or desire) to use the 2016 camera that was part of the emblem. I just took the emblem off my damaged 2010 tailgate (a rental dump trailer popped off the hitch ball and tore that tailgate up), and put it on the 2016 tailgate.

Even if you had an aftermarket double din radio, the factory emblem camera won't just plug in and work. Its doesn't use the standard yellow AV connector that all aftermarket stuff uses. Aftermarket cameras are cheap anyway. I got my whole radio and backup camera stuff off Crutchfield , even had them pre-wire the plug for me so it was an easy install.

Thank you. This is answer I was looking to hear. By the looks of it, I'll be keeping my tailgate and removing my camera emblem and replacing it with the Base model one. Already ordered a blacked out one on Ebay. Waiting for it to arrive to complete my install.
