Is there a forum for Automatic transmission questions? The truck is a '93 f150xl long box 2 wheel drive 4.9L six. <200K miles. when I go around a corner it goes into a neutral free wheeling thing then kicks back in again, and yes it's full of oil. I've read about some kind valve body that's got some ball bearings that roll around what looks like a mouse maze. And don't loose any of the ***** and don't get them mixed up! Is there already put together body/block that I can change out with out disturbing the ***** and their home? I don't do suspension lifts; big tires; high engine performance or smelly pine trees dangling from the interior review mirror. It's basic transportation. Point me to a forum for this kind of help. Thank You bl2009
My first thought is a fluid problem. Do you have a 4x4 transmission oil pan? Maybe the transmission filter is incorrect for the transmission. 2wd transmission filter in a 4x4 pan? Just throwing out ideas.
Right before overhauling your transmission the trans man would possibly put a direct pressure gauge on the trans and check line pressure,
Yours is going away, either from lack of fluid or some other reason
Possible answers depend on whether you have a E4OD trans behind your 4.9 or a C6, AODE or what
E4OD has a MLPS or TR sensor and the C6 just has a neutral safety switch
I believe it's E4OD. Is there a code for it on the vehicle ID plate? The "dream/idea" is the truck is a family heirloom. The longbed really comes in handy. I've two grown Daughters that are constantly helping some one move or replace appliances/furniture/yardsale finds and hauling hay. It would be their truck. It needs a recovered seat and floor mats.
Yes there will be an E on your door jamb under transmission if you have the E4OD. If it is a T it will be an AOD.
If it is the E4OD you can run diagnostic codes and since the trans is Electronically controlled you may find some help with the codes.
