want a quite non droning muffler upgrade for towing
Anyone try this quite on purpose muffler
Not to be confused with 50 series.
No this is 50 Big Block series
Just my experience, I tried a few of the quite mufflers from Magnaflow and Flowmaster and experienced 0 performance gains yet experienced never-ending annoyance from listening to the exhaust 24/7. Went back to "stock replacements" about 4 years ago and happier than ever.

I agree. I installed a Flowmaster and made a cross country trip towing a small RV. When I got back home I installed a stock muffler. Waste of money in my opinion.
I tried the 50 series big block muffler on my 2001 F350 V 10. After about 200 miles, the drone was too much for me to deal with and I installed a Wagner stainless steel OEM style muffler. Prior to removing the 50 series, big block, muffler, I installed a Borla resonator on the tail pipe. This was not enough to make it drivable for my liking. The rest of the system is a custom made two into one stainless steel header and Ford style collector.
The Borla resonator is pretty, but it wasn’t enough to remove the annoying resonance After installing the walker, OEM, stainless muffler, I added a hanger to further support the tail pipe Custom made stainless steel Y pipe Stainless steel intermediate pipe with flex coupling and disconnect flange
Just my opinion, but from my experience, if you want an exhaust that sounds good and doesn't drone, you're gonna want to look at higher-end stuff like Borla, Corsa, etc. My buddy has a 5.0 Mustang with one of the Borla Cat-back systems. It's loud on the outside, especially when he cracks down on it. But on the inside it's a little louder than stock, but no obnoxious drone.
Would be interesting for someone to put stock and aftermarket on a flow bench. At my age I prefer a little rumble at idle like an old CJ Mustang and silent the rest of the time. You want to make instant enemy's? Pull a 7 percent grade into a campground after dark with your camper and blo masters. Nothing screams trash louder than that. JMO
I'm running a dynomax ultra-flow(in place of cat) followed up by a walker ss quietflow on my 2000 6.8. Blissful silence. No drone, no exhaust noise in the cab. I recently had this put on and noticed zero performance loss from a very free flowing clapped out one muffler system(not sure of muffler), if anything it seems more responsive and smooth to me now. All 3" pipe. I pull horses around so quiet is appreciated by all.
