I put AMP powersteps on my truck and wouldn’t go without them now. They come down lower and extend out further away from the body.
makes getting out so much easier than fixed steps that tuck tighter to the body. Especially when I give smaller or older people a ride they very much appreciate them.
of course yes it might require maintenance like cleaning and living etc. but it’s worth it in my opinion.
Personally I wouldn't own another pickup without automatic running boards. They are usually lower than fixed boards and clean up the body lines very nicely when they are tucked away.
I also feel the same way would not own a truck without them they extend alot lower and are very sturdy look alot better and makes it easier to do the maintenance on the truck, they are not hanging down and bolted in place it also makes it easier for me to get up after being under the truck
I’m leaning towards Amp Smart Series at some point when my truck comes. It’s their newest step, a little different looking and you can control with app. In parking lot you can deploy them from app to help prevent door dings, etc
I haven’t seen anyone on here post a pic of the Smart Series so I haven’t seen any reviews.
Not much more to say about how they work. I won't have another truck without them. My 5'4" wife likes them. I hit the hinges with the power washer to keep them clean and free of crud. I'll spray them with silicone once a year, maybe every other year.
Removing the OEM steps and installing them on another truck _may_ be problematic. The necessary electronics may not go to the new owner of the steps, requiring them to purchase additional electronics from AMP. The OEM steps and aftermarket AMP steps aren't exactly the same from what I've read.
I've had the power boards in my last 4 vehicles. Thought they were neat on my first but ended up not caring for them and eventually hating them. Had 2 motors go bad on 2 different 150's under warr. They are not maintenance free and need lubrication/cleaning. With the battery charging issues and all the problems it brings with it on my 2021 150 Plat, i really dont need the power boards flipping out every time i open a door to get a tool out.
My 2023 250 Plat Tremor wont have a glass roof and no power boards.
I can see where that could be a pain. They should have a "garage mode" or something like that, that you can just leave them down when you want. Kind of like you can turn off the dome light from being on when the door is open. A simple button to press.

The powered running boards have that feature. It's on the system screen. I use it every time I go through the car wash so that the running boards get clean. As long as I don't go over ~5 MPH, they stay out.

Thanks, Good to know. I ordered them on my Lariat, as well as Tow Technology and the tailgate step. I didn't need the other stuff in the Ultimate package and thought it was over-priced.
