I have seen power running boards on several of the custom trucks that have been selling lately. I have searched with no luck as what or where buy power steps that will work with a 72 Highboy. I’m sure someone else has researched this as I have hopefully with better success. I would appreciate any help that you could send my way. Thanks in advance.
Easy, since these trucks are 51-56 years old, who wants to make something for them, you have to look elsewhere for something that fits. Look at 73-79's, or 80-96/98's. You will have to modify to make it work.
2X Rich. Sad but true.
I remember your build thread was awesome TP. Besides yourself, I think out of all the guys who fab on here, the two best guys to fab something in like later model running boards, are smokey_diesel and highntight. Sadly highntight hasn't been on this board in years. But his 4X2 to 4X4 with a cummins swap build was over the top. I think I'll try and contact him to see how he's been and if he still has that 1972.
As stated, smokey_diesel is also one of them. He is currently on here. The fab work he has done on his 4X2 to 4X4 conversion is also amazing.
Hey smokey, have you thought of power running boards on your lifted rig?
I have amp steps on my 2014 F250 and I love them. They swing down much lower than a fixed step. I have installed a few sets on other trucks. The motor/hinge brackets are specific to the application. The 72 rocker is similar to other late model trucks so it should be possible to modify an existing. I would call AMP and ask what would be close. They have great customer service.
The length is adjustable, and hinges can be moved wherever on the step. Only one has a motor, the other just a hinge.
