Ash tray light

I’m looking for a NOS ash tray light. Going into a 75 F100. Anyone got eyes on one?

D3TZ-13A726-A

I’d consider a used part that’s in good condition. Thank you!

You know that light does not really provide much light at all. To that point (IMO) it is not really worth putting it in, just like the glove box light. But if you really really need one, I have 6 parts truck that should still have the ash tray light. And I can pull it and will sale/ship it to you. Do you have rest of the wiring?

I am really happy with my glove box light. I it might be silly but as I’m going through and finishing my truck I want all the little things to work… It’s the little things. I do have the wiring. Brand new American auto wire with a grey pigtail hanging out in need of an ashtray light to plug it into.

on a serious note I might take you up on this. Give me a few days to see if I can find a NOS. If nothing turns up I’ll take you up this. Thanks for the response.

No problem, I have never seen a NOS one for sale, so good luck. I understand it's the little things matter. Nice plastic glove box liner. Just PM me it you need the light.

That is good inform there on a location. I found one in a junk yard years ago. I haven’t seen that many of them. Cleaned it up and it works great with the American auto wire harness even though you don’t see the light it’s self and very little light in general but I also like having it.

I couldn’t reach McDonald and I couldn’t find this anywhere else online. Someone’s probably got a box of them and don’t even know it. So here is what I came up with.

When searching eBay several similar items were suggested. This particular item was the cheapest but also appeared to be in like new condition; with shipping and tax it was $13. The part number is D20B-13A726-AA; when you take away the prefix it’s the same part number. Just looking at the pictures, several variants of this same part number appeared to be very similar in size and design. They all had two wires where the trucks only have one; trucks are presumptively grounded via the mount. Adding an extra ground wire is easy enough.

I went out on a limb to see if the mounts are interchangeable. They are! I haven’t installed this yet but will post a pic once it’s done.

So for anyone out there looking for a similar solution, simply search for ‘Ford 13A726‘ on eBay and you’ll probably find a crap ton of these from various models of 70’s cars. I did see some of the ashtray lights from later models that still have the same part number; these appear to be completely different so I don’t recommend that. But when you find one with a similar mount, you should be able to make it work.

This all assumes you have the truck mount which I was able to find. I didn’t have the base but even if I did, I would have been looking to update it as I did here.

Note: the angled mount is the one for the truck.

Also: what I am referring to as the mount is the metal part that also serves as a light shade. Not sure what Ford called it.

What you're calling the "part number" is the base number and basically means "ash try light" the prefix denotes specific vehicle, year etc, and the suffix denotes revision or version variant inside the same model.

The ID engineering number marked on the part is D2OB-13A726-AA
D2OZ-13A726-B .. Instrument Panel Ash Tray Lamp Socket & Wiring Assy. / Marked: D2OB-13A726-AA or AB / Obsolete

1972/75 Ford Torino/Mercury Montego

13A726 is the basic part number for this part for every FoMoCo vehicle, the prefix defines what its applications are.

The suffix could be variations, located on the instrument panel or console for an example.

No Ford part numbers marked on parts after 1956, just casting or ID engineering numbers, when applicable.

I didn’t expect this thread to go into this direction… Appreciate the insight to the structure of the ford part number.

It really provides a good light
I actually put in a warm light LED bulb to conserve the classic yellow light color / See pictures
