My truck has had some running issues. Engine spitting and rpm jumping at idle. Everything I googled said it's probably a faulty icp. I just bought the truck a few weeks ago and the guys receipts show he got the icp replaced in February. I tried unplugging the icp to see if it was the issue but I when I turned the truck on the engine was kicking horribly. I plugged the icp back in and it sounds fine but the check engine light is on now. Is the issue the icp or something else? The icp has been replaced twice in the last 18 months as well as the pigtail connector once. Not sure what to do any tips? Thanks.
Why rely on guesses and google? Get a good code reader / scan tool and see what codes you have. With a CEL, you should have a stored code.
ForScan is one of the best scan tools (Pro version for Windows laptop, Lite version for a smartphone - both read codes thoroughly). Torque Pro is good also.
These scan tools can help retrieve PCM data that we can use in troubleshooting if the code(s) aren't specific enough.
