steering shaft

Hey all i have a 1997 f250hd was checking a couple things and noticed alot of play in my steering shaft any suggestions on a new one tia

Play like right and left or up and down?

if i grab it about 6 inches past firewall it will move up and down and side to side

Borgenson is the only one I would even consider.

I would not use Borgeson again. I had one on my 06 ram and I threw it in the scrap metal pile after 2 months. Set screws come loose no Matter what you do. And I experienced a popping in the wheel. When it would pop I had to re tighten. Like 1x a week. I’d go OEM. but that’s just me.

make sure it has he right tooth count when you buy it or its going to slip


two bolt head has 29



4 bolt head has 27

what are those part numbers for oem or aftermarket google gave me gearbox need the shaft thanks

mine is 2 bolt cover should be 000981 if borgeson they dont say spline count but it does say for 2 bolt cover anyone know oem part number?

that is gear box info so you can get correct shaft

you wouldnt happen to have a pic of the 2 bolt or 4 bolt i believe mine is a 2 bolt by feeling around mine was built june of 97 obs want to make sure i by rigjt one thanks

i thought they were talking about the bolts where the splined shaft was the red cap is where the adjustment nut is isnt it? Is that what they mean i am looking a borgeson 000981 for the shaft and they say it will only work with the 2 bolt ones thanks for the help
