Hello. I'm a new forum member and I just recieved a 2000 excursion from my father. My m3 has been in the shop most of the time I've had it. time for mods...then to a 2.3l motor swap has keeped my car at the lift. So since my dad was only using the excursion for church, he gave the car to me as long as I come down from cornell to help on sundays.
When I was driving the truck around to get aquainted with it, I noticed a creeking noise on the floor of the front passanger side. When I sat in the passenger side while my father was driving, I could actually feel the vibrations from the creeking from the floor. My dad's hearing wasn't exactly the best, so he never heard it. Could this be a problem with the bushings? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the suspension or the brakes becuase the creeking seem to happen when I'm both braking or going over bumps. If any of you guys know how to fix this, I would greatly apreciate any advice.
I've never experienced a "creeking" noise from under the car. I've dealt with metals rattling together, both both cases were in my volvo 240 and m3, and it was in the rear. It was far from a creeking sound...and I was puzzled...it might be a truck thing. So instead of taking the truck to the dealer...which I've never done since I started driving, I thought the smartest thing was to take this to people that are as knowledgable as truck technicians.
I would apreciate any advice...but I've been working with cars for most of my life, and although I have only worked on bmws, volvos and a 4.6 mustang....I'd like to try my luck at trucks and learn more about them. This new excursion is an absoute beauty, and this car only took a small drive for it to grow on me.
You didn't say where you lived but here in MA whenever it gets to 30° or so my front sway bar bushings squeak when going over bumps. I can only guess that that is what you are experiencing. You can replace them or attempt to lube the rubber somehow.
I keep it as it keeps reminding me to move back to Hawaii where I belong...
I live in new york at ithica for as long as I attend Cornell. But my father lives in Jersey and it's been alittle funky down there. It's been raining for all of november, had a 81 degree day, then snowed about 2 days ago. So with the sudden changes in temperature, the rubber bushings probably wore out. thanks alot.
