Posting this question for my brother, he needs to make his own account 😂
96 F250 with the automatic, he’s upgrading to a deep pan next week, he says he remembers reading somewhere at some point that you can use a 08 to 2010 transmission filter possibly? What would you guys suggest? I would suggest oem myself
IMO let it be, another place for a potential failure. Many including my OEM trans lasted for hundreds of thousands of miles with the factory stuff, what I would upgrade would be a larger trans cooler and a triple disc low stall TC if your carnal hasn't already.

Guess I didn't read/understood your question correctly.
So he wants to add an in line trans filter?
orUse a the pan filter for a newer truck?
I don't know if your carnal is using a new or used deep pan but there should be some kind of extension for the filter or a larger filter, don't quote me on this as I have never used a deep pan so don't know what gets used as an oil filter for it.
08-10 were 5R110Ws...at least my Job 2 '08 6.4 was, better make sure works as there are plenty of recliner techs out there that do not know their *** from a hole in the ground.
IMO, use a factory 4R100 pan with drain plug. I swear they are deeper but got me, never had a 4x4 and 2x4 unit side by side.
An inline filter from Magnefine will help to keep really clean, but I bet the stocker works fine with normal draining and filling.

my understanding is that someone told him or he read that when you upgrade to a deep pan, you can use a filter out of a newer truck and they are supposed to work better
I don't think the newer (5R110W) filter will fit his E4OD. If it did, it may create a flow restriction and damage the trans. I don't know of anyone that has done this. I would not do it if it were my transmission.
What is the proper location for a temperate probe for the transmission temp? My brother said he went ahead with a deep pan upgrade. He says his temp gauge is mounted drivers side somewhere up top. His trans temp seems to be higher on the gauge now than before. He’s planning to tow almost daily 2-15k for his business.
is there a cooler with a electric fan he should look into? That’s my thought
