I have a 2019 Ford F350 Platinum. It has 30,000 miles on it. Recently, I have been hearing a very slight noise from inside the cab in regards to the steering wheel. Maybe a very slight vibration (or feedback) and slight noise when sitting idle and turning the wheel back and fourth. It’s not a sound like when you run low on power steering fluid. The batteries (2) are original, so about 4.5 years old. My question is, could one or both batteries be bad which could cause the adaptive power steering assist to not have enough current to function properly? I haven’t tested the batteries properly yet (I didn’t realize you have to disconnect them and test them separately).
You must mean the Adaptive steering. The electric power steering assist didn't come out until 2020MY. I have read that battery issues have caused faults with the adaptive steering, but they were accompanied by some sort of messages on the display.
I haven't yet read of noises in the steering being related to low batteries, but there have been some who had noise caused by the clock spring.

Sorry, you are correct. Adaptive steering. Just looked at my window sticker. I have not seen any messages on my screen yet.
No weak batteries. This could have been a condition prior to my purchase. I've owned it 3 months. Each time it's started it prompts you that an adaptive steering service is due? Once you press ok it's not displayed again until it's restarted. After the same drill it's the same results. There are no other problems or faults.

What sort of tests have you done on the batteries to determine their health?
