I have an 82 F100 w/4.9 W/AC my old radiator is caput and ive been looking at aluminum radiators but none seem to have the right configuation (filler cap and return on passanger side ) my rediator is brass&copper i looked into recoring they want an arm&leg over $700
i found one for $465 > Radiator 1982 Ford F-100 - 4.9 Liter L6 300Cid Radiator Copper/Brass With Air, 2 Row, 27 Inch Core Length | Radiator Express
this is still out of price range for me ok so does anyone know of an radiator source that has a radiaotr for my truck
I'd avoid parts store radiators that are aluminum and plastic. I have one on my Bullnose truck but I need to replace it. I had an aluminum/plastic radiator on my 71 Oldsmobile and it exploded when I blew a head gasket.
I think I got my 81 F100 300 six radiator from Rock Auto a few years ago.
It replaced a copper / brass and is of Alum & Plastic.
If you dont have a shroud, AC trucks all had shrouds, get one or you may run hot as the fan cant pull air thru the radiator & condenser.
I would think when you start putting combustion pressure in the cooling system from a bad head gasket it would blow something like a hose but your weak part was the radiator.

The problem is the 1980-1984 radiators have gotten really expensive and harder to find since around the start of Covid. If you don't mind some minor modifications, you can convert to the 1985-1996 style aluminum/plastic radiator and they're usually much cheaper and much more available.

Yes, even years before covid. My radiator shop alerted me to shortages of the giant copper and brass radiators for the 6.9 4x4 and they recommended that I buy a spare then. I took their advice and invested in copper and brass. Was able to find one for 400 bucks for the parts shelf. They are no longer available on rock auto. The rads for the 4x4's are super long and not as deep as the 4x2. I don't know who has them now.
Yeah I recently had to deal with this and I've had a hell of a time finding anything at all. Rock Auto is out of stock on everything and even the plastic ones are a hit and miss option.
The local shop is recoring my original one right now for $450 CAD and I'm honestly not that upset about that price. I couldn't find a damned thing in Canada and anything from the US was minimum 30 days backorder.
That's a all aluminum made in China radiator. They work pretty good, I have one on my diesel. It was half the weight of the original brass radiator. You can get them on ebay, they do have a decent selection of them.

4x4 with the tall radiator, not the wide one. They had two different types for the diesels.
Your diesel is an 87 IIRC. I know that parts lookups for the 86 F250 4x4 6.9 always pulled up the wide one. Maybe they made a change to accommodate the tall one for 87?
