P054F Idle Control Fuel Quantity Higher Than Expected >Read more: https://www.autocodes.com/p054f_ford.html
Strange one, never heard about this one before.
Popped up saturday morning on my latest trip.
Didn't bring my scan tool with me, of course...
Stopped at an autozone when I got to one that was open, had them scan it, found the above code.
Didn't look like anything that would hurt anything or stop me from going on, so I let it be and went on.
Later on when I stopped and fueled up, the light went out and hasn't popped back up since.
Have to do some research on this code, see if there is anything to do since it cleared itself.
Drain the fuel water separator just to be sure all ok there.
Well, don't know how it could be bad fuel, truck has run perfectly all weekend, before the code popped, after it popped, after topping off the fuel and after the light went out.
Put 2400 miles on it since Friday without a hiccup other than the code popping and going away.
My best guess so far is it was just an anomaly, momentary thing that made it pop then went away.
Just have to keep a sharp eye on it, have another job coming up, we'll see if anything happens.
Will have my new scan tool and will be keeping it in the truck from now on.
Was towing my boat and stoped by a Loves truck stop to refuel and noticed it was B20 which I have never run in my truck before that event. The next day I had a check engine light and immediately thought about that Loves fuel. The following day the check engine light went off.

Every place I fuel, has a sticker on the pump that says the fuel could be as much as B20, been running fuel like that for many years, and every truck you see on the road does as well, never any issue. I bet you've run quite a bit of B20 through your truck without ever knowing that is what it was, not every place tells you exactly what the blend is.
It's not necessarily B20, the sticker on the pump says it could be as much as B20, could be B5 or B10, could be straight diesel, all depends on the blend the storage facility is pumping at the time the tanker fills up.

What did the actual button to start the pump say? At least from what I've seen around here, B20 will be labeled that on the start button and often on the signage. I understand it can be up to that number, but wouldn't think the fuel companies would want to reduce the amount of biodiesel too much in their blend since straight #2 usually costs more (at least at the pump).
Did you get a chance to search that code? I read a few threads from owners with that code, it ranged from unknown cause to bad fuel injector.

Yeah, my search didn't come up with anything definitive.
Some reports of dealerships trying repairs that didn't end up solving the issue.
I'll just keep going and see if it pops again.

99.9% of the diesel I run is either Shell diesel which doesn't state any bio so it could be up to 5% without advertising and Exxon Mobil diesel Efficient which states bio 2% - 5%.
Funny this thread pops up today. My 22 work truck just had the check engine light come on. Ironically, just after I fueled up also.
I threw the code reader in the truck and will deal with it tomorrow. I will post again what I find.
