hello all, ive got a ford remaned 4r100HD and I've seen the other forum where it says whats all done to it but i haven't found anything about it being able to hold more power, id like to reach about 400 horse power and i was wondering if the ford 4r100HD is up to the challenge, if anyone knows anything let me know thank you!
I understand the stock 4r100 can handle up to 1000hp, but I also hear the stock TC are prone to failure, so you might think about upgrading that. There are other people here that are trans experts that can tell you a whole lot more than I can.

no way. That trans would be puking it’s guts out after 30 seconds behind 1000 Hp.
my uncle is a ford trans guy and he said the TCs are basically wear items. On mine at 150,000 he said the vanes were breaking up inside as he could hear them. He changed the TC and serviced the trans.
Well there ya go...It's what I get for not thoroughly reading what was asked.....I meant to say 1000ft/lbs but instead said horse power. My apologies. Here's an article on building the 4R100, to supposedly take over 500HP, if you're interested. https://www.dieselworldmag.com/diese...04R100%20build.
I will be tearing into mine pretty soon as it is intermittently dying when I shift to reverse, Fluid was changed less than 5k ago and it's full, so There's probably something going on internally.

i know the stock trans can fail at stock power levels. Truthfully I think a lot of that has to do with maintenance and use/abuse. Lots of people go out run these transmissions hard with burn outs on streets, frevving in mud or off road, racing around, , the towing brag of my truck can tow 40,000 pounds up xyz grade in 120* heat with AC in and when they rams breaks “it’s a pos man” . my stock trans has 183,000 miles and works fines but I don’t beat the snot out of it either
My question would be how reliable is the transmission and what’s the longevity of the rebuild. There are a lot of wild claims online as to “our product is the best “. Personally when I’m buying a big ticket item like a trans or reman engine I’m ninja research the quality longevity and if that company actually stands behind its product or is it lip service. There are too many fly by night operations who entice buyers with low prices or “ this o week only” weekly sale carrot on a stick.

I myself try not to use aftermarket parts. I stick with OEM unless it's obsolete, but then, I'm not trying to push 400hp or better either.

i have no issue with aftermarket parts as long as it’s a quality part with at least OEM specs not done chinesium pos. I’ve seen a lot of aftermarket parts fail soon after being installed. Quality of parts
these days is awful

That's the problem with global economy, you never know the quality or where it's coming from.
absolutely true. Sometimes even OEM parts are counterfeit.
I can attest to that, picked up a Motorcraft headlight switch a few years back, and the plugin is slightly deformed so when you hit a bump the plug shakes loose just enough to turn off the cluster panel lights. I had to slide some folded paper in between to get it to stay.
