Ive got a 1989 f250 im trying to set up a 7 way trailer harness, i got the 4 pin adapter set up from autozone https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...0125/70589_0_0
and the conversion from 4 to 7 https://www.autozone.com/electrical-...ter/237220_0_0
the only ones needed now are the trailer brake controller which is the blue
reverse which is purple but i know its the black/purple wire on the truck harness black is aux power but i dont know where to run it off of, any recommendations or suggestions?
im also interested in what brake controller should be ran, theres a really wide variety
for aux power i come straight off the battery through a relay that is turned on but ignition switch power.
trailer brake controller is up to you. there are literally hundreds of different options. from plain jane $75 units, to $500 computer controlled units.
True story, the trailer brake will take some juice to operate
Leave the truck out of it except for the one wire from the brake lamp switch to the controller
The power wire should be 10- 12 gauge or so, with a relay, or at least a fused terminal block
