Ford has had their chance(s). None of the dealerships I am familiar with are worth a plug nickel and the one this work is under warranty with has "mechanics" that are more concerned with unplugging my dash cam than they are with actually working. The last time it was in the shop for this problem I stopped in to check on progress and they let it slip the guy was on vacation for a week. Nice! Wish I had a truck to pull my camper with so I could go on vacation!
On a different note, I paid closer attention to the noise this morning and noted that it starts as soon as the truck starts moving and gets louder and higher pitched as speed increases. At about 60mph the growl becomes more of a whine. I backed up as fast as I dared a short distance and noted some sound from the rear of the truck but it was soft and indistinct.
This weekend I'm going to lift the rear of the truck and conduct a thorough visual inspection. I'm going to put it in gear and try to locate the source of the noise while my wife dials 9-1 on her phone.
