Check engine code 334, '92 2.3L

Father in law was complaining of rough running when starting in recent 15-20 degree nights. After engine warmed up it ran fine. I brought this truck home and then took it to Autozone and had the code pulled. 334 has to do with EGR air flow, took the EGR off and cleaned, checked the position sensor attached to EGR just by checking resistance across two leads and seemed to vary just fine with changing vacuum levels. Any ideas?

Welcome to FTE haskinsguy. There was a post or two about the tube from the exhaust sometimes getting plugged, or at least restricted enough to cause a problem with the EGR. Try using the search feature to see if you can locate them.
