Help

Ok. Here we go. I have a 1994 7.3 idi, non turbo. Its international harvester. For some reason when I get on it about three quarter pedal. It falls on its face. When I let off a little it picks back up agsin. I cant give it full pedal especially up hill. It does grest on flat road, highway. I have done the following and still cant get it. Checked the sending unit, replaced selector valve, it has an electric pump, new injector pump, and multiple new filters. So pretty much the entire fuel system. Im so frustrated. WTF?

Run a fuel pressure gauge inside your truck to monitor the fuel pressure. Something tells me you're running out of fuel.

I'm very skeptical about these electric fuel pumps after a lot of people complain about air intrusion problems and low performance after adding them. In my opinion, they're a band-aid that causes other problems.

I have. Its been in the shop for 2 months. They told me the pressure is good. Everything with the fuel system has been gone thru. I was thinking maybe its a back pressure deal, but my air cleaner is new and its got a can end of pipe.

What was the fuel pressure PSI they reported? Did they test it on the road or just in the shop?
Did they happen to check the fuel return line pressure? It should be zero, but if it has a clog or kink, it'll build up pressure and stall your engine?

Im not sure what the pressure was but I know they drive it and said it was running at ford specs. Also it has a new return line kit. Maybe Ill get a pressure test done then duplicate the problem.

You mentioned your truck has an electric fuel pump. What brand pump is it? When I bought my Bullnose truck it had a $20 parts store cheapie fuel pump on it. That was the first thing to go!

Its a facet. Its had four different pumps to try and figure out whats going on. I even had a 9 to 11 psi at one point, but went back to a 5 psi. Do you think a second pump to assist might work? The current pump is under driver on frame.

I think you should pull off that electric pump and install the Factory mechanical pump. But do the fuel pressure test first.

FWIW, I have been running a mechanical fuel pump on my 6.9l since replacing that parts store cheapie electric pump, but it did rupture a diaphragm and pump diesel into the crankcase. Thankfully I caught it before any damage was done.

if it's been in the shop for 2 months and they can't fix it, it's time to get them out of the loop,

as all other have advised above, I'd also hook up a fuel can to your front bumper and go direct to your injection pump to bypass everything and figure out which direction the problem is,

I had a delivery truck many years ago that ran fine until you made it work at high rpms, the fuel line had cracks and it would only suck air at high volumes,

5 PSI fuel pressure is too low.
ford specs are minimum 7PSI and 1/2 pint fuel delivery in 10 seconds cranking.
