Anyone know what the casting number for the intake manifold off of a 332HD ('58? - '64) is, the one that will accept the modern style carb ? I found a guy who may or may not have one. I just want to be sure of what it is before I buy it.
Ive had a couple of those intakes in the past. There are a few different numbers but anything starting with B7, B8, B9, C0 and up are the later ones.
B5/B6 will have the smaller bolt pattern.
Uh oh, now I'm confused...I found some literature (hollander interchange) that said it was a c3tz9424b for a '57-'63 302/332 HD from a B-C-F-or T 700 thru 900. It lists the B7 as belonging to a 292 for those same years in the same trucks basically. Do the B7 fits the fords and the C3 fit the Lincolns maybe? Btw...I'm more apt to believe you than Hollander, as it has lead me astray before.
Like I said, there are several different casting numbers. Hollanders has a habit of only listing the current versions in their listing and then saying it fits earlier years. In your case you probably have a 60's manual since the C3 is a 1963 ID. Looking in my 58 Hollanders it lists the B7Q9425A under the same #194 interchange as the C3 in yours.
The 302/332 is a Lincoln derived engine but Lincoln intakes wont work, ports are different. Also the truck series went thru several head iterations over the years but intakes are "supposedly" all interchangable. The only 332 I currently maintain is a 56 F800 dump and I have upgraded that with a C3 intake and Holley carb along with the later distributor; made a nice improvement.
Lincoln intake wont fit on the truck engine, but the truck 332 will fit on the Lincoln Y block correct? I have a 341 and am looking to upgrade the intake so I can use a modern style carb. That old teapot just isnt cutting it for me.
Hmmm...everyone I've talked to so far has said to go with the truck intake, especially once I get the 368 ECU heads on the motor. Are the ports close enough that I could possibly grind enough to match 'em?
I havent delved that deep into those swaps. There may actually be a perfect match as the 332 underwent a few head and intake changes. I dont even know which heads are on the 332 in the F800 and Hollanders isnt too helpful either.
Been looking for a Big Truck factory manual that spans 56-63 but no luck yet.
Let me know if you manage to get a hold of one of those manuals, I've been looking for one as well. Eventually I want to pull this 341 out and put it in a T-bucket. But, if I do that I'll have to check into the feasability of mating a manual transmission to it (something with four or more gears would be nice).
Thanks,
Jay
p.s. I'll let you know what I have to do to the intake/heads when I get it set up.
