Carburetor codes
I know this information is available in this forum but I can’t find it.
I have a 1986 F250, 351w. I am having carb problems. It runs super rich and leaks gas. The accel pump looks like it has stopped working as well. I have put a couple of new gaskets in the carb, but that’s all. I am looking at having a carb place rebuild it for me so I know the surfaces are flat and the leaks are fixed. In the meantime I have been looking at the possibility of a replacement. The data on the carb is:
E5HE-9510-ED
list-50260-3
1767
Full disclosure, I was overseas for close to 20 years and my father law kept the truck for us but it really just sat and deteriorated. When I finally returned to the states I had the local Ford dealership get it running again for me. I suspect the carb was replaced. The truck has never run that good. It has always been hard to start and ran rich. Finally when I recently rebuilt the engine I was forced to face the carb issue since the engine ran, but it ran terrible, was super rich, and leaked gas.
Can anyone point me to the document that will tell me what engine this carb should be assigned and what carb I should search for to properly function with my engine? I know the list number is the key but I can’t find the information.
Thanks for your help.
I do not have the book, hopefully your calibration is on there somewhere
It should have lust had a Holley 600 carb with dual thermactors
There is a lot to the choke on that carb and the pulloff adjustment is critical for your running rich condition
Leaking fuel and the float level adjustment is first
Get steel needles so they do not stick, and you have fuel shooting out the vents
Get the .110 size as you are not running straight alky and do not need the added volume of the .120 needles
.110 is big for gasoline but works
Otherwise find ethanol free fuel, in your area, for that truck
