Door seal conditioning?

My old truck door seals have been compressed from the doors being shut for so long. I want to help "puff" them up so I was going to use mineral oil. They also stick so opening the doors takes more effort than my wife can do. Is there a better way?

I'm not sure mineral oil will cause them to become uncompressed. They do make new door weatherstrips from improved rubber.

This is the less expensive Economy Line that DC offers, too.

If the seals are old, the rubber has lost its resiliency. I doubt anything will bring back the sponginess of the seals. You could try a heat gun, however, I would expect them to need replacement.

I don't know of anything that will "puff" up your door seals, and you might not like my suggestion, but GM makes a product available in most dealers parts dept called Silicone Emulsion. We used to use this in the bodyshop. It may take several treatments, but it will rejuvenate hardened door seals, windshield rubbers, etc. One local guy I mentioned this product years ago passed the info on to one of his club members, and he treated the windshield rubbers on his car, initially, they had cracks in them you could catch a fingernail on. Took a number of treatments, but when he was done, the cracks were no longer visible.
Personally, if they were that bad, I'd just swap them out for new ones, but just an anecdotal example of the product.......Acdelco

Anyone ever tried this product on a padded dash? Will it soften a 66 padded dash?

Thank James -

That 1st someone won't be me. Mines not bad, just looking to soften it up a little. Didn't realize its only for rubber.
