Question After Break-IN

How many miles should I allow before changing to a full synthetic oil. I live in a warm climate and pull a boat, so I was going to use 5w -30w. Would this be the proper oil for a 2004 4.6?

According to the Mobil-1 website you can use it from the start. They give an impressive list of cars that use Mobil-1 as factory fill.

I would wait until your first scheduled oil change. If you are finicky change at 3,000 and then follow the manual for future intervals. I do 5K or 7.5K depending on which car.

Note that most drivers style would be listed as severe duty, ie lots of short trips, stop and go etc. Most of us do not have a 30 minute freeway speed commute every day. Most have a 10 minute hop to the grocery or we do lots of stop and go.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson
