My 2003 F-450 6.0 diesel with a R110 transmission had shifting issues so I replaced it with a used transmission.Transmission shifted like brand new for months then the same issue started again. It was intermittent then became constant. It shifts from P to R,D to N hard.Starts off in 1st gear then the tow hual light starts flashing and it slams into 3rd and stays. Can't even manually shift it into any other forward gears. It stays in 3rd until its turned off and then it repeats when you drive it.
only code is a output speed sensor and I've replaced it.Cleared code and the same code comes back. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and was there a solution. Thanks
There is no code that says to replace the output sensor. The code means you need to diagnose why the reading from the sensor is bad. Most of the time the problem is in the wiring between the PCM and the output sensor, not the sensor itself.
You need to get a multimeter and check each of the two wires to the sensor for continuity from the PCM to the sensor. Also check each one for short to power and short to ground.
The code was for output speed sensor issue. When I checked the sensor out it had a broken clip on the sensor side. So I replaced it with a new sensor. I have checked the wires coming from the sensor and found none to have any shorts and all connections seem good. Tried new PCM and had the same issue with the transmission and same code for the output speed sensor.
At first it didn't but after tracing the wire to the place where the break was showing we found the threshing full of water. Once we allowed the water to drain and the wires to dry it showed continuity.we checked it several times. I feel like it's a wiring issue just can't seem to find where the issue is. Thought we had it figured out when it showed a break/short in the wire but apparently not.
