I have always read to bench bleed the MC then install in vehicle. WHY? Why not install in truck and very slowly push the brake pedal to bleed? Obviously with tubes from the ports to each chamber. When done, hook up the brake lines. Just curious.
I always bench bleed. It's too easy, and is more than worth the effort.
With the master cylinder installed, your brake pedal and pushrod may not bottom out the piston in the bore. If that's the case, there will always be air in there. That air will compress, instead of pushing hydraulic fluid, and your braking will suffer. Every master cylinder I've bought, comes with a cheapy bleeder kit. Parts stores sell those same kits. They work. I go a step further, and make my own out of copper brake line.
