I know LMC has a bad rep. But I have to give a shout to them.
I bought a set of slash shields from them for my 74 f100.
The passenger side has 78 inner and outer fender.
And the driver side has 74 inner and outer.
All the screw and bolt holes was right for the 78 fender was just right.
I had to drill holes for the 74 side. But overall a great product as I can tell yet.
They fit well and was easy to install
Do you mean "splash shields" those plastic things that attach to the fender wheel opening lip and go between the fender and the galvanized inner fender piece? As I understand it they were first introduced in late 1976.
I've heard/read bad things about LMC too. I certainly haven't spent as much money with them as say, Summit, or some of the Jeep parts sources, but I've never had a bad experience with the products LMC has sent me.
LMC is okay, with the possible exception of DC if you don't like LMC's goods you aren't going to like whoever sells you the same thing elsewhere. and LMC sell most of DC's stuff too.
If you haven't restored old vehicles long you're going to learn your options aren't unlimited, be glad if you can find a useable part at a decent price at all. the only ones that really tick me off are the parts that are useless because you can't make them fit or the quality is so poor they won't do., why even make them.
I was not trying to throw a bad light on LMC, but if you read here and other places on the internet they would be your last choice for products. I have been buying from them off and on for approximately 20 years. I have received several Dennis Carpenter parts from them.
I was really just letting everyone know that their splash shields seem to be really good. All the screw and bolt holes lined up correctly.
They have them listed on their site as an exclusive.
if you are looking for them my experience says go for it. A little pricey but I don't know where else to get them
I too need the inner splash shield for my left front fender but I imagine shipping will be expensive as I live in Canada.
More to the point, I’ve bought a lot of parts from LMC over the years and for the most part, have been very happy with their parts. Mostly I am happy that someone still sells parts for these old trucks! In most cases, their quality is pretty good.
I did a huge order of brake parts from them when I was doing my Bronco years ago. Only parts that were a little suspect were the parking brake cables. They did work just didn't fit the best. The true test would be if you have returns. I have read that RA is failing miserably on that.
I have been buying from LMC for 20+ years. All in all, I like them. Their parts are one step below oem parts, but I like their catalog and prompt service. They are the company I know, and I take comfort in that familiarity.
Lately their shipping charges have soared, and that has made me seek parts on Amazon and Ebay so that I get free shipping.
Dislike: the tailgate they sell is weak junk. After a new paint job I stood on the tg and it flexed, sending a patch of paint to the ground. OE is the way to go for the tailgate.
