Diagnostic Plug Question

1997 Ford F-250, 5.8. 4 X 4, ZF 5.
Attempting to get ready to pull codes simply for maintenance records. No warning lights on dash. Truck functions flawlessly.
What is this plug (with the red) and what is it's function? I have OBD 1 and OBD 2 diagnostic equipment. None of the plugs configure to this one.

Getting nothing plugged into the OBD with an adapter to OBD2

Best to sort this out and get adapters before the gremlins appear.
Maintain

That looks like connector C216 that goes to the speed control servo module.

Top looks like CC connector which I don't see a cruise control module to go with. Usually has a cover.

My particulal OBD I & 2 combo reader just knows what cable is plugged into is what's being read.

(I need to type faster I guess )

Just got this reader so I'm trying to educate myself while I can be in a nice warm shop.
I guess it's time to read the instruction manual. Plugged it into my 2004 F350 and it went to readin' right away.. So, I guess the reader is functioning as it should be.
Thank you,

Hobo

Yeah, I'm guessing unless you have a plug in the box/bag that directly connects to the bottom plug you have OBD II only reader.

If it does, there must be a switch or sequence to enter to make it read.

Got to love these " 'tween year" trucks. I drove a 1997 F-150 off the show room floor... New body style. For the past 23+ years I have kicked myself for not buying an F-250 (OBS). Took awhile but I finally got what I wanted.

BTW... I am from Baton Rouge.... Go Tigers
