Electrical plug question:

Hi, restoring this old 1976 F100, looks like it sustained fire damage at some point. On top of the engine, there is a harness which goes to distributor as well as oil and water sending unit. This is the red area on the schematic (I believe).

As you can see the wires on the 4 prongs plug are in very bad shape, it was held together with electric tape and some red RTYV (?)...
There is another 3 prongs plug nearby which isn't in much better state...

Question:

Are these just connector plugs or do they have some kind of resistance built into it?

Thank you.

Just plain ol connector plugs. Looking at the black elec tape, time to replace them. Holler if you can not find replacement plug ends.

Half of the three wire plug was missing on my 75 F150. I replaced it with a standard three wire trailer plug, fit perfect. The three wires are for the Oil sender, Temp Sender, and the Carb Solenoid, (which looks to be missing from yours).

The round four wire plug looks like it is a Duraspark ignition connector. Those can be found at LMC, Dennis Carpenter, etc. or can be ordered from your local parts store. They make a three wire and a four wire replacement. One caveat though, there are actually three duraspark connectors that ford used, but only two are available aftermarket as replacement sockets. If you are looking for the distributor connector, (which looks like the other two, but will not physically connect)? It is unavailable as a replacement socket, and can only be found either from a donor vehicle, or paying painless wiring $100 for their Duraspark harness. The good news, is the painless harness is a direct replacement for 1976 with the blue grommet, comes with all three of the connectors, from the duraspark module to the distributor and is pretty much plug and play. Just not cheap!

Great info..... Thanks

When you are saying "Oil sender, Temp Sender, and the Carb Solenoid, (which looks to be missing from yours)." are you referring to the wire going to the carb electric choke coil?
Thanks again

Oh wait.... Sorry, I got confused here... do you mean the throttle actuator is missing? Use to bump idle when AC kicks in, right? Something like that?

No AC on this truck, or it has been removed .

Used for anti dieseling typically, bumps the idle up when the key is on.
