Hey gang, does anyone here have any new information or opinions on the Ford 20e07 reprogramming?
I've done some searching but most of what I've read is from mid/later '22.
Wondering if anyone has had this done recently.. Notable issues? Benefits?
Thanks
I had it completed on my 2019 late last fall and the only change I have seen is if I park it and leave it running, it will idle up to close to 1000rpm. Other than that fuel mileage and DEF usage hasn't changed.
I had the PCM reflash done about a month ago. Soon after I left the dealership the fuel mileage went into the sewer. Well crap I thought, don't tell me this reflash was going to affect my fuel mileage. I had unplugged my ScanGuage II so the dealer tech could use the ORB II, so I could not check that for the regen status. But bringing up the regen gauge showed the percentage was going down ........it started around 60%. . According to the instant fuel mileage gauge, it stayed in regen long after the the DPF went to 0% for maybe 40 minutes total. I stopped and put the truck in park before I got home to see if that would stop the regen. Not sure if that did it since things still smelled hot when I got home, so I let the truck idle for about 10 minutes just in case.
The truck has seemed to be OK since then. My fuel mileage is about the same as before the reflash. It took about 100 miles for the DPF to show the the 1st 5%..........I figured it got a good cleaning out. It is now showing 25% with 200 miles on the tripometer since the regen. I have not put enough mileage on the truck to see if DEF usage has changed.
I’m going through this mess now. This is the fourth year now that I can’t renew my registration electronically because the DMV shows my truck as invalid. So I call the DMV again today to ask about this and they tell me that when I come in, I need to bring proof that the 20e07 emissions update was completed on the truck in order to receive my registration. I called the local dealership and they are sending a tech over to my house Monday to perform the update and give me a receipt to take to the DMV. Hope this goes well…

I had read others mentioning some kind of golden ticket that should be given to the owner after this recall is completed, incase the DMV requests it.
I was never given any special paper to show as proof, and proof was never requested of me at any point. Not by the smog shop or DMV. I did have to deal with not being able to electronically renew my truck but it was unrelated to this recall, it was ongoing prior to the recall being released. For 3 years in a row after buying my truck I could not renew electronically and was not being sent any renewal notice. Each year I would call and be told they were fixing something on their end, it wasn't until this last May that I finally recieved a renewal notice and ability to renew online (if I wanted to).
I had it done about a month ago. My in dash fuel lie o'meter now tells me my mpg is averaging about .5 to .7 mpg less than before it was done.. I haven't noticed any difference in DEF usage or regens.

Sounds like my issue. Every year they put in a trouble ticket and tell me that it will be fixed for the following year. I called the DMV to complain again that I had not received a renewal notice and I was told the cost this year (846.00) and then she told me to make sure I bring in proof that the emissions recall update was completed in order to receive my new registration. No idea why my truck comes back as invalid when I enter my plate and vin number on the DMV page. When I go into the DMV, the clerk pulls it right up and issues me a new one. I suppose when I go in, they may not even ask me for it but I need to have it done, just in case. Ford asked me if I wanted to bring it in for the other recalls but I declined and will just deal with this “required” one. At least I get to stand right there in my garage and see exactly what is being done.
Nobody at WI DMV cares about my emissions either. I swear that I could transplant an old 6V92TA 2 stroke into the truck and nobody in Madison would care, unless they were behind me.
So, as I cannot get a straight answer as to whether or not I required a smog, I went down to the test center today and when they pulled up my info, this is now printed on your smog paperwork in CA
Granted, does not apply to many but those of you folks out this way, make plans to get it done.
Things like this is why people have gone from loving CA to hating everything about it. You say, well it is just CA but eventually they try to export that crap everywhere, just look at the CARB gas cans! Bastiges.

It's pretty crazy how little some of these DMV representatives know. During the 3 years that I wasn't receiving renewal notices, they couldn't give me a legitimate answer to why it was happening, but they were able to tell me the amount due and if a smog check was required. I was told that the reason I wasn't able to do an electronic renewal was because of the fact the a renewal notice was not being generated. I even spent an hour at a DMV office the second year trying to resolve the issue, was told it was some wrong code, that it would be corrected and I should see a notice the following year....following year came, no renewal letter. Called again and finally received a renewal letter this year.
I do recall reading in a past thread, a post from a member saying that reg renewal wouldn't be allowed without this recall being completed. Your photo is another verification of that, at least here in CA.
They (DMV) must know when this recall has been performed, since I never notified anyone and have successfully passed emmisions inspection and registration renewal without a hiccup.

bob
True, although I don't see it as CA exporting it, rather other states for some unknown reason, importing it. Apparently there are 14 states that have adopted CA emissions standards.
